SIGN UP FOR CLUB PRIDE: There will be a Club PRIDE Training on Saturday, October 3rd, from 9:00 AM -12:00 PM at the High School Gym. Regular Club PRIDE meetings will be from 6:30 - 7:30 AM on Wednesday mornings at the High School Gym. Any 8th grader interested in joining Club PRIDE please sign up at Mr. Grusecki's office.

9TH & 10TH GRADE GO FOR IT! ACHIEVERS: Mrs. Sass will meet with all freshmen and sophomore key achievers, whether you have one, two or any number of keys, during your lunch time on Thursday, Oct. 1st in her classroom, #2. If you want to earn other keys, reaffirm the keys you already have, and continue to move forward using the Go For It! Program, bring your lunch and join Mrs. Sass to organize meetings to help you succeed. (This meeting will be held during both A and B lunch times.) Let's Go For It!
AS A RESULT OF THE FIRST KNOWLEDGE BOWL TEST, the team for the first Quiz Central Game and the firs Knowledge Bowl Game will be captain Jared Moore, Eric Wilk, Chris Ross and Matt Haupert, with alternates Thomas Montie and Craig Finley. The first Quiz Central Game, played at Central Michigan University, will be against Clare on Oct. 7. If we win that game, played in the morning, we will go on to play against Farwell in the afternoon. Alpena has not sent their schedule of games for Knowledge Bowl yet.

Stop in the counseling office for information. Applications must be returned to the counseling office by Monday, November 23, 2009.

The winning match-up will be announced during the NBC25 News at 11:00 PM on Thursday.
THE 8TH GRADE GIRLS BASKETBALL TEAM DEFEATED WHITTEMORE LAST NIGHT 23-18. It was an overall great team effort. Great Job girls.
THE FRESHMAN VOLLEYBALL TEAM DEFEATED STANDISH LAST NIGHT 2-1 to improve their record to 6-0.
THE JV VOLLEYBALL TEAM LOST TO STANDISH LAST NIGHT in two matches, 25-9 & 25-16. It was a tough night for the Lady Braves. Keep working ladies.
THE VARSITY VOLLEYBALL TEAM DEFEATED STANDISH LAST NIGHT 3-2. Tawas came strong taking the first set 25-22. They faltered a bit the next two but rallied strong in the fourth behind the strong hitting of Molly Stoll and the outstanding defense of Katie Challenger. Hannah Columbo led the team off in the fifth game by serving 6 straight points. The Braves dominated the 5 game 15-8. Tawas remains in first place in the NEMC with a 6-0 record.

THE BOYS VARSITY SOCCER TEAM DEFEATED STANDISH WITH AN 8-0 MERCY LAST NIGHT in just 48 minutes of play. Scoring for the team was Talal Abdallah, DJ Decker and Cody Jordan each with 2. Dylan Loga and Antoine Mauron each added 1. Assists were credited to Cody Jordan with 2, Talal Abdallah and Dylan Loga each with 1. Nick Hulea was in goal to earn the shutout. The team is now 11-1 overall and 6-0 in the NEMC.

THE GIRLS X-COUNTRY TEAM FINISHED 14TH & THE BOYS 18TH SATURDAY at the Garber Invitational. Emily Short finished 8th, winning a medal. Other varsity finishers were Heather Britt 56th, Shanna Britt 81st, Haylee Hutchison 86th, Abbie Hutchison 87th, Karli Stevelinck 89th, Katie McKenzie 90th. For the boys team; Anthony Kushner finished 72nd, Tim Glasgow 92nd, Taylor Knapp 96th, Matt Horn 102nd, Brandon McMahon 118th.

SENIOR STUDENT ATHLETES (male & female) meeting the requirements of a 3.5 GPA and having earned at least one varsity letter in an MHSAA sport can submit an application for the MHSAA Scholar-Athlete. Stop in the counseling office for information. Applications must be returned to the counseling office by Monday, November 23, 2009.

THE BOYS JV SOCCER TEAM PLAYED ROCOMMON LAST NIGHT ENDING IN A 3-3 TIE. Tawas put intense pressure on a determined Bucks squad. Scoring for Tawas were Tyler Jordan with 2 and Dylon Gotcher with 1 goal. Assists went to Greg Bissonette and Kyle Stonehouse. Tawas had 16 shots and keeper Zach Boensch made 5 saves on 8 shots from Roscommon. Tawas record 6-1-1.
THE BOYS VARSITY SOCCER TEAM DEFEATED PINCONNING 8-0 LAST NIGHT. Scoring for the team was DJ Decker with 4, Cody Jordan with 2, Talal Abdallah with 1 and Travis Simmons with 1. Assists were credited to Antoine Mauron with 2, Cody Jordan with 1, Talal Abdallah with 1, Dylan Loga with 1 and Braden Kauffman with 1. Nick Hulea was in goal to earn the shutout. The team is now 10-1 overall and 5-0 in the NEMC.
THE FRESHMAN VOLLEYBALL TEAM DEFEATED PINCONNING LAST NIGHT by scores of 25-21 & 25-13.
THE JV VOLLEYBALL TEAM CLOSED OUT A VERY COMPETITIVE WEEK. Monday evening the ladies traveled to Oscoda to play the Lady owls Losing a tough three match night the 1st game was 21-25 2nd match 25-14 win and a very good 3rd game lost 28-26. Closing out the week the Ladies rebounded against the ever tough pinconning girls winning the 1st match 25-21, 2nd match lost 25-22 and winning the 3rd 25-13. Great job ladies.
THE VARSITY VOLLEYBALL TEAM DEFEATED PINCONNING LAST NIGHT 3-1, continuing their winning streak in the NEMC. Molly Stoll led the offense with 14 kills out of 28 hits. Katie Challenger had another outstanding day on defense as well as from the serving line serving 7 aces. The Lady Braves are now 5-0.

THE GIRLS X-COUNTRY TEAM FINISHED 3RD & BOYS 5TH AT THE NEMC JAMBOREE TUESDAY. Emily Short won the race in 20:39. Heather Britt finished 10th, Abbie Hutchison 19th, Rachel Adaline 21st, Karli Stevelinck 22nd, Haylee Hutchison 26th, Rachel Gingerich 29th, Katie McKenzie 31st. THE JV BOYS SOCCER TEAM DEFEATED BAY CITY LAST NIGHT coming home with a 6-1 victory. Scoring for Tawas were Dylon Gotcher, Tyler Jordan, Greg Bissonette and Jake Salway. Assists went to Kyle Stonehouse, Blake Katterman and Jordan. Tawas had 18 shots and keeper Zach Boensch made six saves Centrals lone goal coming on a penalty kick in the second half.

THE JV BOYS SOCCER TEAM MERCIED CLARE LAST NIGHT 9-1. The mercy rule was invoked with 10:49 remaining in the game. Scoring for Tawas were Dylon Gotcher with two goals and one assist, Matt MacArdle with two goals, Tyler Jordan one goal and two assists, Kyle Stonehouse two assists, Kieth Finley one goal, Greg Bissonette one goal, Dylan Sterling one goal, Blake Katterman one goal and Corey Chamberlin had two assists. Zach Boencsh made 3 saves on four shots in goal.
THE BOYS VARSITY SOCCER TEAM DEFEATED OSCODA LAST NIGHT 8-4. Scoring for the team was DJ Decker with 4, Talal Abdallah with 2, Travis Simmons and Cody Jordan each added 1. Travis Simmons and Antoine Mauron each had two assists while Talal Abdallah and Dylan Loga had one assist each. Goal was shared by JD Putz who had 5 saves and gave up 2 goals and Ben Enzenberger who had 2 saves and gave up 2 goals. One of which was on a penalty kick. The team is now 8-1 overall and 4-0 in the conference.
THE 8TH GRADE GIRLS BASKETBALL TEAM LOST TO OSCODA 51-13 LAST NIGHT, despite the beautiful rendition of the national anthem by Leah Thomas, Katie Martin, and Alaina Dehner. Scoring for the braves were Josie Short with 6, Maggie MacDonald with 4, Kirsten Kaiser with 2, and McKenzie Bischoff with 1.

THE JV BOYS SOCCER TEAM SHUT OUT OGEMAW LAST NIGHT 5-0. Scoring for Tawas were Blake Katterman with two goals. Dylon Gotcher, Kyle Stonehouse and Matt McArdle each had one goal. Tyler Jordan had three assists. Greg Bissonette and Cole Vanderveen were also credited with assists. Tawas had 19 shots and goalie Zach Boensch made 7 saves for the shutout. Tawas JV record is 4-1.
THE BOYS VARSITY SOCCER TEAM DEFEATED OGEMAW LAST NIGHT 7-1. Cody Jordan had 4 goals, DJ Decker had 2 and Talal Abdallah had 1. Assists were credited to Talal Abdallah, Kyle Hewitt, JD Putz and DJ Decker. Nick Hulea was in goal and had 10 saves.
THE FRESHMAN VOLLEYBALL TEAM SWEPT OGEMAW LAST NIGHT in two games. Their record is now 4-0.
THE JV VOLLEYBALL TEAM LOST TO OGEMAW LAST NIGHT. The matches resulted in scorew of 13-25 and 14-25 for our Lady Braves. The Ladies continue to work hard and keeping a positive attitude are becoming a TEAM. Positive attitudes, Look forward not behind, Go Braves!
THE VARSITY VOLLEYBALL TEAM DEFEATED OGEMAW LAST NIGHT. The Braves lost the first two games and then roared back to take the next three. Dana Kolnitys and Molly Stoll were the team leaders in kills while Katie Challenger and Christie Cooper led from the serving line. The team is now 4-0 in NEMC play.
THE JR. HIGH FOOTBALL TEAM DEFEATED HALE & LOST TO OSCODA LAST NIGHT. Tawas 26 - Hale 8 and Oscoda 20 - Tawas 8; Scoring for Tawas were Dan Howell, Steve Politte, Eric Thatcher, Justin Kirnovic and Jared Jungquist. Defensive leaders were Justin Miller, Brad Huebel, Scott Jimenez, Jake Sciotti, Jordan Shumaker and Justin Gage.

THE TAWAS EQUESTRIAN TEAM is saddling up for their second meet of the season. Qwin Simpson, Paige Lentz, Jade Kozan, Emily Kopkau and Lindsey VanderVeen will travel to the Ogemaw Fairgrounds on Sunday to compete against Standish-Sterling, Whittemore, and Mio-Ausable in division C. After the last meet Standish and Whittemore were tied with 78 points, Tawas had 67 and Mio came in with 32. If you are interested in cheering on the team, come on over to the fairgrounds anytime after 9:00 am on Sunday. Admission is free!

JV FOOTBALL AT HOME TONIGHT vs. Pinconning at 6:30 PM.
SPORTS NEWS...
THE FRESHMAN VOLLEYBALL TEAM DEFEATED JOHN GLENN LAST NIGHT 19-25, 25-18, and 25-19.
THE JV VOLLEYBALL TEAM HOSTED JOHN GLENN LAST NIGHT. In the first game the ladies lost a ough one 17-25 and the second game was very clos but John Glenn won 25-23. The ladies are working very hard and are gaining confidence. The team will be playing in the Pinconning Invitational on Saturday. Keep working ladies, you will prevail!
THE VARSITY VOLLEYBALL TEAM BEAT JOHN GLENN 3-2 LAST NIGHT. The match was close the entire way and the team finally took the fifth game 15-13. Hannah Columbo and Sarah Koroly continued to dominate from the service line combining for 11 aces. Katie Challenger led the team in defensive digs and offensive kills. The lady braves are now 3-0 in NEMC play.
THE BOYS VARSITY SOCCER TEAM MERCIED WHITTEMORE 8-0 LAST NIGHT. Talal Abdallah scored two goals, Antoine Mauron, Ben Enzenberger, Andrew DiFilippo, Dylan Loga, Aran Freel and Cody Jordan each added one. Assists were credited to Kyle Hewitt & Antoine Mauron each with 2 and Nick Hulea with 1.

THE FRESHMAN VOLLEYBALL TEAM has gotten off to a good start. They've beat Standish 2 games to 1 and Whittemore 2 games to 0.
THE JV SOCCER TEAM PLAYED BACK-TO-BACK LAST WEEK (Tuesday and Wednsday). Tawas lost on the road to Alpena 1-3. Alpena scored three goals on twelve shots. Tawas lone goal came from Tyler Jordan with assist from Matt McArdle. On Wednsday Tawas played Roscommon JV at home and won 8-5. Tawas goals by Dylon Gotcher 2, Tyler Jordan 2, Matt McArdle 1, Blake Katterman 1, Mickey Freel 1, & Nick Miller 1. Tawas had 25 shots and goalie Zach Boensch had 7 saves on 10 shots from Roscommon. Tawas JV record is 3-1.
THE VARSITY SOCCER TEAM MERCIED STANDISH LAST WEDNESDAY with a score of 8-0. Scoring for the team was Cody Jordan with 3, DJ Decker and Dylan Loga each with 2, and Travis Simmons with 1. Assists were credited to Cody Jordan and Travis Simmons each with 2 and DJ Decker, Dylan Loga, Aran Freel and Talal Abdallah each with 1. Nick Hulea was in goal and had 7 saves. Their record is now 4-0.
