TODAY'S NEWS…

IMPORTANT NEWS FOR EVERYONE (8th -12th)...

DETENTION will be held in Room 24 (Mrs. LeClair's room) this week.

FISH GIFTHOUSE APPLICATIONS ARE AVAILABLE IN ALL SCHOOL OFFICES. For families struggling to make ends meet who are in need of help with Christmas gifts. You must live in Iosco County to be eligible. Applications are due November 20, 2009.

SCIENCE OLYMPICS MEETING FOR 6TH - 12TH GRADE STUDENTS: Monday, November 16th, in Room 6 at the High School from 6:00 to 7:00 PM. Students interested in participating as team members are welcome. Call Mrs. Liddell at 989-739-8640 for information. Please use the side door by room 6 for drop off and pick up.

ANY JUNIOR OR SENIOR INTERESTED IN A NON-PAID OFFICE POSITION for 2nd semester at a local dentist's office, please see Mrs. K. Decker.

CONGRATULATIONS TO KATIE MARTIN & REBEKAH PALMER for showcasing the collages of their potential and earning Key #2: I believe in myself. Nicely done, young ladies! IF YOU NEED TO LEAVE SCHOOL EARLY (FOR APPOINTMENTS, ETC.) PLEASE BRING A NOTE FROM YOUR PARENTS. Keep the note with you to show your teacher so you can get out of class. Turn the note in at Mr. Grusecki's office when you sign out. THIS IS THE BEST WAY TO GET YOU OUT AND WHERE YOU NEED TO BE GOING ON TIME! Please be sure to check out of class and be ready to go on time! It is your responsibility to watch the clock!

BUS PASS REQUESTS MUST BE SUBMITTED IN WRITING BEFORE SCHOOL Bus pass requests must be written (by a parent), turned in the Mr. Kiblinger's office BEFORE SCHOOL, and must have the address and name of the bus written on them. Passes requested before school can be picked up DURING LUNCH & AFTER SCHOOL ONLY.

WORK PERMITS If you are under 18 and have a job, you must have a WORK PERMIT! They can be found in the rack outside front office.

SPORTS NEWS (9th - 12th)...

ATTENTION VARSITY & JV BOYS BASKETBALL PLAYERS: The weight room will be open from 2:45 - 3:45 PM this Wednesday November 11th.

BOWLING TRYOUTS ARE ONE WEEK FROM TODAY! We are in need of 7 more girls for the team. This is a great opportunity for some 9th or 10th graders to participate in a varsity sport. Any questions, contact Coach Miller. See you at the lanes on Monday at 6:00 PM. Bowling is Great Fun!

9TH - 12TH GRADE INFORMATION...

IMPORTANT - ALL STUDENT COUNCIL MEMBERS need to meet in Ms. del Rio's room (#34) during A lunch on Wednesday, Nov. 11th. If you plan to be involved with Student Council this year you need to be there!

ATTENTION ALL SENIORS: Friday, Nov. 13th, at 11:00 AM Mr. Samuels will be here to take the annual senior class photo out in front of the school. Teachers please excuse all seniors at 11:00 AM for this photo.

SPANISH CLUB MEETINGS THIS WEEK: Wednesday for juniors and seniors & Thursday for sophomores & B lunch.

EARTH CREW HAS VERY COOL METAL WATER BOTTLES FOR SALE! They are only $8.00! Buy a re-usable bottle so we can stop using plastic bottles!

STUDENT COUNCIL WILL BE SPONSORING A CAN DRIVE from Monday, Nov. 9th, through Friday, Nov. 20th, to be donated to Heart to Heart Food Pantry and Clothing Closet. Bring food items as well as paper products to your first hour class. We will be terminating the drive on Nov. 20th which is a Wednesday. The winners will get an awesome prize!

SEGMENT II DRIVER'S ED. CLASS will be available at Tawas Area High School on November 17, 18 and 19. Cost is $25.00 and is available for all students who have held a level one drivers license for 3 months and have 30 hours of practice driving completed. COUNSELING OFFICE NEWS...

SENIOR STUDENT ATHLETES (male & female) meeting the requirements of a 3.5 GPA and having earned at least one varsity letter in an MHSAA sport can submit an application for the MHSAA Scholar-Athlete. Stop in the counseling office for information. Applications must be returned to the counseling office by Monday, November 23, 2009.
