8TH GRADE INFORMATION...

THERE WILL BE A DANCE FOR 7TH & 8TH GRADE STUDENTS ONLY on Friday, Dec. 4th, in the high school commons. Details to follow.

IMPORTANT NEWS FOR EVERYONE (8th -12th)...

THE 3RD ANNUAL TAWAS TURKEY TROT 5K IS COMING UP on Saturday, November 28th. You can run or walk this event. All of the proceeds go to the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society. If you are interested, please see or e-mail Ms. Owens for an entry form.

TOYS FOR TOTS APPLICATIONS ARE NOW AVAILABLE in the rack outside the front office. Completed applications should be brought to the designated location on December 10th or 11th. See the form for further details.

IF POSSIBLE, PLEASE JOIN THE SPANISH CLUB FOR TIP DAY AT AUGIE'S ON THE BAY this Wednesday, Nov. 25th, from Noon - 7:00 PM. Tips earned will benefit the club and Relay For Life! Come out and sample the new Mexican menu and help cancer research at the same time!

WORK PERMITS If you are under 18 and have a job, you must have a WORK PERMIT! They can be found in the rack outside front office.

IF YOU NEED TO LEAVE SCHOOL EARLY (FOR APPOINTMENTS, ETC.) PLEASE BRING A NOTE FROM YOUR PARENTS. Keep the note with you to show your teacher so you can get out of class. Turn the note in at Mr. Grusecki's office when you sign out. THIS IS THE BEST WAY TO GET YOU OUT AND WHERE YOU NEED TO BE GOING ON TIME! Please be sure to check out of class and be ready to go on time! It is your responsibility to watch the clock!

BUS PASS REQUESTS MUST BE SUBMITTED IN WRITING BEFORE SCHOOL Bus pass requests must be written (by a parent), turned in the Mr. Kiblinger's office BEFORE SCHOOL, and must have the address and name of the bus written on them. Passes requested before school can be picked up DURING LUNCH & AFTER SCHOOL ONLY.

9TH - 12TH GRADE INFORMATION...

FINE ARTS STUDENTS: Don't forget to turn in your letter of intent for the Fine Arts trip by the end of the day on Tuesday (Nov. 24th) to Mrs. Kosto.

SENIORS: Your senior shirt order and money is due to Mrs. Decker or Mrs. Perrot by Wednesday, December 2nd. Please make checks payable to Tawas Area Schools.

SENIORS: See the display case for the results of the announcement vote from last week.

SENIORS: Jostens will be here on Wednesday, December 2nd, from 10:30 AM - 1:00 PM taking orders for cap & gown and announcements.

THE EQUESTRIAN TEAM HAD THEIR ANNUAL BANQUET ON FRIDAY NIGHT. Our own Lindsey VanderVeen made the top ten in points with an 8th place. Jade Kozan received Most Improved, Emily Kopkau received Rookie of the Year, Paige Lentz received Most Versatile, Lindsey VanderVeen received High Point - Team, Gwin Simpson received Most Coachable. Thanks girls for a great season!--Coach Lentz and Coach Yoes.

COUNSELING OFFICE NEWS...

ATTENTION STUDENTS INTERESTED IN TAKING COLLEGE CLASSES IN THE SPRING: Dual Enrollment packets are now available in the Counseling Office. Early spring registration for Alpena Community College is from November 2, 2009 - December 4, 2009. Applications require both counselor and principal signatures PRIOR to registration so plan ahead and get your paperwork completed before going up to register. If you have any questions, please contact the counseling office.

SENIOR STUDENT ATHLETES (male & female) meeting the requirements of a 3.5 GPA and having earned at least one varsity letter in an MHSAA sport can submit an application for the MHSAA Scholar-Athlete. Stop in the counseling office for information. Applications must be returned to the counseling office by Monday, November 23, 2009.

THERE IS A LEADERSHIP CONFERENCE OFFERED BY MICHIGAN YOUTH LEADERSHIP (M.Y.LEAD) for interested sophomores. The conference is held May 14 - 16th at Michigan State University. Participants will develop the leadership skills necessary to become understanding and effective leaders of tomorrow. Conference activities include motivational speakers, panel discussions about current events, team-building exercises, and much more.
