8TH GRADE INFORMATION...
ELK'S NATIONAL HOOP SHOOT FREE THROW CONTEST The qualifying round for all 8 - 13 year olds will be on Saturday, Nov. 7th, from 9:00 - 11:00 AM in the Tawas Area High School gym. For more information, pick up a flyer from the athletic office.
ANY 8TH GRADE BOY INTERESTED IN PLAYING BASKETBALL, there will be a meeting on Friday, October 23rd, during lunch in Room #7. Get your lunch first then report to the meeting. Remember you will need a completed physical form in order to begin practice on Monday, October 26th.
CLUB PRIDE PRACTICE from 6:30 - 7:30 AM in the high school gym. If you could not attend the training last Saturday but are interested in being on the team you can still come to the first practice.
9TH - 12TH GRADE INFORMATION...
ATTENTION ALL CLASS BOARD MEMBERS: We need your picture for the yearbook. Caroline Weber will be taking the Freshman & Sophomore class representatives on Thursday morning during Channel One and the Junior & Senior reps on Friday. Please meet Caroline outside the commons on your appointed day.
SPANISH CLUB MEMBERS WHO ARE ATTENDING SVSU'S COMPETITION, you need to hand in your permission slip and fees by Thursday, October 29th.
ANY 9TH OR 10TH GRADER INTERESTED IN CONTINUING THE GO FO IT! PROGRAM, can meet with Ms. Sass in room #2 every Wednesday during his/her lunch hour. We meet weekly with the exception of October 28th. See you on November 4th.
SEGMENT I DRIVER'S ED. CLASS starts October 26, 2009, at Tawas High School. Class will run Monday thru Thursday from 7:00 - 9:00 PM. SEGMENT II DRIVER'S ED. CLASS will be available at Tawas Area High School on November 17, 18 and 19. Cost is $25.00 and is available for all students who have held a level one drivers license for 3 months and have 30 hours of practice driving completed. PICTURE RETAKES ARE NEXT THURSDAY, OCT. 22ND. If you have not had your picture taken yet this year, you MUST do so for ID purposes, even if you are not ordering pictures. Extra order forms are available in the offices for those who do wish to order. If you already had your picture taken but want retakes, you need to bring your original package back on that day.

IF YOU NEED TO LEAVE SCHOOL EARLY (FOR APPOINTMENTS, ETC.) PLEASE BRING A NOTE FROM YOUR PARENTS. Keep the note with you to show your teacher so you can get out of class. Turn the note in at Mr. Grusecki's office when you sign out. THIS IS THE BEST WAY TO GET YOU OUT AND WHERE YOU NEED TO BE GOING ON TIME! Please be sure to check out of class and be ready to go on time! It is your responsibility to watch the clock!
BUS PASS REQUESTS MUST BE SUBMITTED IN WRITING BEFORE SCHOOL Bus pass requests must be written (by a parent), turned in the Mr. Kiblinger's office BEFORE SCHOOL, and must have the address and name of the bus written on them. Passes requested before school can be picked up DURING LUNCH & AFTER SCHOOL ONLY.
WORK PERMITS If you are under 18 and have a job, you must have a WORK PERMIT! They can be found in the rack outside front office.
COUNSELING OFFICE NEWS...
STUDENTS TESTING FOR THE ACT SATURDAY, Oct. 24th, need to be in the library by 7:40 AM. Bring your admission letter, calculator, and #2 pencils. Bring a sweatshirt, the library is chilly in the morning.
STUDENTS HAVE UNTIL FRIDAY, OCTOBER 30TH to get their incomplete grades in.
SENIOR STUDENT ATHLETES (male & female) meeting the requirements of a 3.5 GPA and having earned at least one varsity letter in an MHSAA sport can submit an application for the MHSAA Scholar-Athlete. Stop in the counseling office for information. Applications must be returned to the counseling office by Monday, November 23, 2009.
REMINDER - SCHOLARSHIP DEADLINES ARE COMING UP! The Elks National Foundation Most Valuable Student Scholarship application deadline is coming up along with The Gold Key Scholarship for special needs. Applications are due November 2, 2009 (available online or in the counseling office).

PORTS NEWS...
THE FRESHMAN VOLLEYBALL TEAM DEFEATED OGEMAW LAST NIGHT 25-22, 25-15. Their record is now 8-1.
THE VARSITY VOLLEYBALL TEAM DEFEATED OGEMAW LAST NIGHT 3-1. Tawas came out strong taking the first set but then faltered slightly in the second . The team came back strong in the third set behind the strong serving and play of Katie Challenger. Tawas finished with a strong final set to win the match . Sarah Koroly was once again our assist leader. Dana Kolnitys had another all around outstanding match as did Katie Challenger. Molly Stoll was strong hitting and blocking for the Braves. With this win the Braves are 8-1 and are are currently in sole possesion of first place in the NEMC. The team has a share of the NEMC title with a chance to take it outright at Pinconning next week.
