TODAY'S NEWS…

CONGRATULATIONS TO SAMANTHAN NICKELL for winning this last trivia contest sponsored by Student Council. Samantha won a 2009 yearbook!

ATTENTION SENIORS! The Josten's representative will be here Wednesday, April 15th, from 10:00 AM - 1:00 PM to deliver your announcement orders. You should have received a bill in the mail if you owe a balance. You must pay your balance in full to pick up your orders that day.

THE PROM MEETING FOR MONDAY NIGHT HAS BEEN CHANGED! We will meet this week on Wednesday and Thursday at 5:30 PM in Mrs. Nunn's room.

SENIORS: Order forms are now available for your class t-shirt/sweatshirt and can be picked up from Mrs. LeClair or Mrs. Whetstone. All orders are due by April 17th.

THERE WILL BE A STUDENT COUNCIL MEETING on Wednesday, April 15th at lunch in Mrs. Mikulski's room (#26).

ATTENTION SPANISH CLUB: Los Lobos Locos & "Oye Como Va" Tuesday, April 14th & 21st, at 6:45 AM. Burritos Divertidos & "De Todo Un Poco" Thursday, April 16th & 23rd, at 6:45 AM.

CHOIR STUDENTS, POTENTIAL CHOIR STUDENTS AND THEORY STUDENTS: Please consider making choir your first choice instead of a 2nd. We know that there are more requirements now and it doesn't seem that you have time to take choir, but really you DO have the time just ask Mrs. Lentz and she can help you figure it out!

DONKEY BASKETBALL IS BACK! Please attend this hilarious event that will benefit the Spanish Club and Relay For Life. It will take place in the high school gym on Friday, April 24th, at 7:00 PM. See the trophy case for more information. According to the donkey basketball company, everyone participating in the event (riders, dancers, and cheerleaders) must pay for a ticket.


OTHER IMPORTANT INFORMATION...

DETENTION Mondays, Tuesdays & Wednesdays after school in Mrs. Whetstone's room (#36) from 2:45 - 3:45 PM. Wednesday morning detention will be in Mrs. Kosto's art room from 7:15 - 7:55 AM.

IF YOU NEED TO LEAVE SCHOOL EARLY... (for appointments, etc.) please bring a note from your parents. Keep the note with you to show your teacher so you can get out of class. Turn the note in to the office when you sign out. THIS IS THE BEST WAY TO GET YOU OUT AND WHERE YOU NEED TO GO ON TIME. Please be sure to check out of class and be ready to go on time! It is your responsibility to watch the clock!

BUS PASS REQUESTS MUST BE SUBMITTED IN WRITING BEFORE SCHOOL Bus pass requests must be written (by a parent), turned in to the office BEFORE SCHOOL and must have the address and name of the bus. Passes requested before school can be picked up DURING LUNCH & AFTER SCHOOL ONLY.

WORK PERMITS If you are under 18 and have a job, you must have a WORK PERMIT! They are in the rack outside the high school office.


COUNSELING OFFICE NEWS...

STUDENTS INTERESTED IN DELTA COLLEGE can visit with a representative on Monday, April 20th, at Noon. Do you plan on attending Delta in the fall? Do you have questions regarding programs or financial aid? Sign up in the Counseling Office.

SENIORS - REMINDER: AP EXAM FEES ARE NOW DUE! Turn them in to the Counseling Office.

SENIORS - SCHOLARSHIPS DUE THIS WEEK: TAFT - Wednesday, 4/15; and Pintkowski - Friday, 4/17. Next week: Whittemore Speedway (to address given) 4/20; and Tawas Kiwanis Club 4/24.

McDONALD'S CORP. OF TAWAS IS OFFERING A $1,000 SCHOLARSHIP for one area high school senior. Stop in the counseling office for info. Deadline to the counseling office is Friday, May 8th.

SPORTS NEWS...

THE GIRLS VARSITY SOCCER TEAM DEFEATED OSCODA MONDAY 1-0. Scoring for the team was Alyssa Gracik. Molly Stoll was in goal for the Braves with 2 saves.

THE JV SOFTBALL TEAM DEFEATED WHITTEMORE IN BOTH GAMES LAST NIGHT. Tawas won the first game 18Ð3 after the 3 inning mercy rule. Defensively Tawas was lead by Alexis Grover, the winning pitcher with 7 strikeouts. Offensively Tawas was lead by Abby Gentges with 3 singles and 2 RBIs and Alyssa Gage 2 singles and 2 RBIs. In game two Tawas won 16-0 after the 3 inning mercy rule. Defensively Gentges was the winning pitcher with 8 strikeouts. Offensively was lead by Gage with 1 double, 2 singles and 1 RBI; Ariana Conklin and Grover with 2 singles and 1 RBI each.

THE VARSITY SOFTBALL TEAM DEFEATED WHITTEMORE 6-3 AND 10-0 (5 INNING MERCY) TUES Nikki Stein won both games, striking out 27 on the night and pitching a no-hitter in the second game. Leading hitters for the night were Amber Hunt with three hits and two RBI, Katie LaHaye and Lauren Look with two hits and two RBI each and Lyndsey Look with two hits.

THE JV BASEBALL TEAM WON A DOUBLE-HEADER AGAINST WHITTEMORE LAST NIGHT. Winning scores for Tawas were 8-2 and 6-1. Tawas winning pitchers were Collin Verlac and Jared Bielby. Top hitters were Tyler Samuels and Jordan VanderVeen.

THE VARSITY BASEBALL TEAM SWEPT WHITTEMORE LAST NIGHT 16-1 and 9-2. DJ Decker & Justin Bielby were the winning pitchers. Leading hitters for the Braves were Seth Thomas with a homerun and Justin Bielby with a homerun. Also Nick Hulea had three hits, River Pedulat with three hits & Kurtis Branham with three hits.
