TODAY'S NEWS…

ATTENTION SENIORS! The Josten's representative will be here Wednesday, April 15th, from 10:00 AM - 1:00 PM to deliver your announcement orders. You should have received a bill in the mail if you owe a balance. You must pay your balance in full to pick up your orders that day.

CHECK THE LOST & FOUND for items you may be missing. It will be emptied during the break!

SENIORS: Order forms are now available for your class t-shirt/sweatshirt and can be picked up from Mrs. LeClair or Mrs. Whetstone. All orders are due by April 17th.

THERE WILL BE A STUDENT COUNCIL MEETING on Wednesday, April 15th at lunch in Mrs. Mikulski's room (#26).

ATTENTION SPANISH CLUB: Los Lobos Locos & "Oye Como Va" Tuesday, April 14th & 21st, at 6:45 AM. Burritos Divertidos & "De Todo Un Poco" Thursday, April 16th & 23rd, at 6:45 AM.

SENIORS, WORK HAS BEGUN ON THE CLASS OF 2009 PICTURE SHOW. If you have pictures that you would like to lend to be scanned into the show, bring them to room 24 and put them in the box. Make sure they have your name on the back, so they can be returned to you. Please bring your pictures in as soon as possible.

DRIVER'S ED. SEGMENT I STUDENTS: We are unable to run a Segment I class due to lack of enrollment. A class will be offered beginning June 1st with a Segment II class to start the second week of June. Please see Mr. Smith in the Counseling Office if you have any questions.

NHS MEMBERS: An audit has been done of your hours. Seniors, you need to check your folders in Ms. del Rio's room to see how many hours you need to complete (before April 14th) to be eligible to graduate as a member of NHS.

DONKEY BASKETBALL IS BACK! Please attend this hilarious event that will benefit the Spanish Club and Relay For Life. It will take place in the high school gym on Friday, April 24th, at 7:00 PM. See the trophy case for more information. According to the donkey basketball company, everyone participating in the event (riders, dancers, and cheerleaders) must pay for a ticket.

PROM TUX SPECIALS! KD's Just-In Style, formerly located across the street on M-55, has moved to its new location next to Freel's Market in Tawas City. On Monday, April 6th, and Tuesday, April 14th, from 6:00 - 8:00 PM, they are offering tux specials, starting at $79.95. The discount on the tuxes is for those two nights only. Stop in and order yours. They also have a wide selection of dresses for the girls.


OTHER IMPORTANT INFORMATION...

DETENTION Mondays, Tuesdays & Wednesdays after school in Mrs. Whetstone's room (#36) from 2:45 - 3:45 PM. Wednesday morning detention will be in Mrs. Kosto's art room from 7:15 - 7:55 AM.

IF YOU NEED TO LEAVE SCHOOL EARLY... (for appointments, etc.) please bring a note from your parents. Keep the note with you to show your teacher so you can get out of class. Turn the note in to the office when you sign out. THIS IS THE BEST WAY TO GET YOU OUT AND WHERE YOU NEED TO GO ON TIME. Please be sure to check out of class and be ready to go on time! It is your responsibility to watch the clock!

BUS PASS REQUESTS MUST BE SUBMITTED IN WRITING BEFORE SCHOOL Bus pass requests must be written (by a parent), turned in to the office BEFORE SCHOOL and must have the address and name of the bus. Passes requested before school can be picked up DURING LUNCH & AFTER SCHOOL ONLY.

WORK PERMITS If you are under 18 and have a job, you must have a WORK PERMIT! They are in the rack outside the high school office.


COUNSELING OFFICE NEWS...

STUDENTS THAT WILL BE JUNIORS & SENIORS NEXT YEAR have an opportunity to participate in the annual Young People's Citizenship Seminar being held on the campus of Northwood University in Midland. This five-day seminar, being held June 22-26, gives students a working knowledge of local, state and national government. Stop in the counseling office for more information.

INTERESTED IN LAW ENFORCEMENT? The Michigan State Police Law Enforcement is offering a week long career academy June 21-26, 2009. This week may include activities and classes in defensive tactics, first aid, water safety, military drill, K-9 and other various areas. This is offered through our local Kiwanis Club. Sophomores, juniors or seniors interested can stop by the Counseling Office for more information.

THE WHITTEMORE SPEEDWAY SCHOLARSHIP applications are now available in the counseling office. Deadline to address given is April 20, 2009.

THE TAWAS KIWANIS CLUB SCHOLARSHIP applications are now available in the counseling office. Visit the website for more information and deadline date.

McDONALD'S CORP. OF TAWAS IS OFFERING A $1,000 SCHOLARSHIP for one area high school senior. Stop in the counseling office for info. Deadline to the counseling office is Friday, May 8th.

SENIORS! Those of you that are stilling contemplating turning in the TAWAS AREA EDUCATION FOUNDATION SCHOLARSHIP have until the end of Friday to get this in. DO IT! PDF application found on www.tawas.net website, fill out, download, sign and date. Letter of application and two recommendation letters.


SPORTS NEWS...

JR. VARSITY SOFTBALL NEEDS AT LEAST ONE MORE PLAYER this season. We would prefer to have 2 more players. If you are interested, please see Coach Collins in the Junior High.
